Adjective dependent clauses

This type of dependent clause acts just like an adjective in a sentence, but is made up of more than one word:

Jason, who is a black belt martial arts expert, fended off the muggers easily.

The dependent clause, which is shown in bold font, acts just like an adjective - it tells the reader more information about the noun ‘Jason’.
